Our Approach

Our Story

Our Story

In 2010, our God Who knows the end from the beginning brought together three of His daughters-- Cheryl Conway, Joy Goodheart, and Regina Zellars, to walk with Him on a journey of great purpose. Along the way our Righteous Father would do a healing and restoration work in us that would prepare us for a greater work (Ephesians 2:10). To honor our desire to love Him with all our heart and willingly submit to His will and ways to accomplish His Kingdom purposes for His church-- the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-14)-- His Bride (Ephesians 5:31,32), He led us to Restoring the Foundations (RTF) to begin purging our hearts of the emotional and spiritual sludge of hurts and pain accumulated over a lifetime.

Through the years we have prayed together, studied together, traveled together, and ministered together-- first to each other, using RTF principles and patterns, then to others along the way. In 2013 Regina, Pastor of Alpha Omega Ministries which she founded in 2003, invited her ministry sisters Cheryl and Joy to join her in teaching her Bible Study class at Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD and getting to know her passel of kids-- the ROTC crew, the jocks, band geeks and cheerleaders, Special Needs, LGBT kids, and drop-ins. While we were teaching them the power of forgiveness-- the beginning of all healing and deliverance, and continually encouraging them to maintain and update their forgiveness lists, they were teaching us long-suffering, perseverance, and forbearing one another in love. All the while God was creating in our hearts a prayerful, non-judgmental, supportive environment that would extend into the classroom, the ministry room, and the world. We were establishing trust, learning to love unconditionally, to value and allow others to be themselves while our mouths practiced speaking only God's words about how He sees people and who we are in Him. Our business is to love others, not change them, for change is not our doing but God's.

In September 2017 God brought us to Pastor Robert E. Slade of Grace United Methodist Church in Ft. Washington, MD who agreed to be our sponsor and introduce Healed Heart Ministry to his congregation. In April 2018 we were certified as RTF ministers of Issue-Focused Ministry (IFM). The nature of our work is not counseling: we are not therapists, psychologists, or mental health experts and therefore do not minister according to man's wisdom and knowledge. Ministry is about serving others, in our case enabling people to the healing of mind, body, and spirit unto abundant life through the wisdom, grace, and restoration power of our "Wonderful Counselor," the Holy Spirit, Who helps God's people appropriate what Jesus, by His work on the Cross, has already given us.

From small beginnings come great things. God formed a cord of three strands not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12), kept us through thick and thin (Ephesians 4:1-3), and made us fully prepared in our hearts to do the larger work He now has for us for such a time as this, a time of great shaking in the world and in His Church (Ephesians 1:3,4), that in the end He will have a church without spot or wrinkle when His Son returns for His Bride (Ephesians 5:25-27), perfected to the eternal purpose and unsullied glory of God Himself.

Ecclesiastes 4:12

In 2010, the Lord called together three women, Joy Goodheart, Min. Regina Zellars and Cheryl Conway, to form Healed Heart Ministry. Through the years we have prayed together, studied together, traveled together and ministered together – first to each other and then to others.

Wonder Woman

The only way to keep a broken vessel full is by keeping the faucet turned on.
—D. L. Moody

It took years to recognize
how poor in spirit I was,
how much I needed God.
I’d searched long and far afield
stopping at different religion wells
along the way. One day He found me,
but I was a broken vessel and struggled
to soak in the presence of the God
of Amazing Grace. I didn’t know how
to be still, capsized with the heart sludge of a
lifetime— hurts and pain, shame over failures,
fear of the future, loneliness, stultifying beliefs
and attitudes. When I’d given it all to Him
Jesus took my hand and led me through
the door of no return. To look back
would be to take it all up again:
who I used to be is not who I am.
I learned to trust Him, little by little
to desire Him, finally to give Him my heart,
the only thing I have worth giving a Holy God.

In the midst of the requirements and
responsibilities of daily living I am still
a broken vessel, but in His presence
I am the Beloved, replenished with the
peace that passes understanding, the
healing, hope, and freedom my body, soul,
and spirit needs.  I rise and shine in the morning
with His light, and like a calf released from the stall,
go out into our desperate world, full of sickness
and sorrow, to go where He leads me and do
with others what I see Him doing.

I’ve found who I didn’t know I was looking for,
and He has made all the difference.

Cheryl Conway

Certified IFM Minister

It was through music and drama that the Lord captured Cheryl’s heart.   It was through RTF Ministry that He began and continues His marvelous heart transformation process.  Cheryl met her husband and love of her life, Purcell Conway, while dancing and singing to the glory of the Lord at a life-changing production of “The CLOWN – A Dramatic Musical Experience of Spiritual Encounter” at her family church, Meade Memorial Episcopal in Alexandria, VA.   Years later, Jesus called Cheryl to be a “skillful warrior” and introduced her to the Restoring the Foundations Healing and Deliverance Ministry. As Cheryl experienced her own powerful healing and that of her ministry partners, she recognized that this was a vehicle to be used for the fulfillment of the Lord’s calling.  In 2013, following the instruction of the Holy Spirit, Cheryl released a worship CD, “It Is YOU!” Since then, the Lord has used Purcell and Cheryl to write and produce plays for their home church, Grace United Methodist Church in Fort Washington, MD. Cheryl is currently writing a book entitled “Looking Forward to Eternity with a Great Big Grin On My Face!” in response to the Lord’s instruction to write a book to “Tell them about your struggles and about My goodness.”   It is Cheryl’s desire to share the reality of the love of Christ and the power He has made available to His Church to live an abundant life by any means that God makes available to her. Purcell and Cheryl are the proud parents of three children, Nia Spencer, Purcell Rose, and Imari Conway, grandparents of 4, great grandparents of 1 and counting! To GOD be all the glory!
