Self Esteem, Self Value, Insecurity

Negative self-esteem, insecurity, lacking confidence, self-hate, and worthlessness can lead to destructive and risky behaviors such as self-mutilation, bulimia, anorexia, suicide, drugs, alcohol, and poor health choices in conjunction with helplessness, guilt, shame, self-condemnation and self-judgment.

Who We Are

What is the basis of who we are?  What do we project and what are our behaviors?  Healthy people are confident, sure of themselves, peaceful, loving, hopeful, happy, joyful, content, and courageous, and their behavior will be positive.  If we are self-destructive, then it is reasonable that we don’t value ourselves.  Words to describe this are worthless, failure, unlikable, not wanted, not desired, and being a burden to others.  Satan likes to interject our minds with thoughts such as “you won’t succeed, you are ugly, they hate you, you should be dead,” and many more thoughts.

Three Sources of Thoughts

There are three sources of thoughts:  ours, God through the Holy Spirit, and Satan through the demonic spirits.  God does not condemn.  The fiery darts described in Ephesians Chapter 6 are those thoughts that Satan implants in our mind.  These thoughts are like bait dangling at the end of a fishing line.  All we have to do is take the bait and run with it.  Over and over the self-condemning thought processes through our mind until we have defeated ourselves.

God Values Us

God sets the standard of who we are and our value. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”  Psalms 139:14 (NLT) Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it.”  Once we know that we are valuable to God, then we will have great self-esteem.  Knowing is a process of renewal by exchanging the old beliefs of self-denial with God’s truth.  Our ministry helps people receive the living Word of Jesus, leading to transformation of our lives.
